In any case, this is going to be a quiet post to draw the smallest amount of attention to the fact that a short story I wrote (which was first nominated for the storySouth Million Writers Award) has been selected as a storySouth Million Writers Award Notable Story of 2010.
I want this to be a quiet, small post because I used this very story - as it is on the website - as my application for an eighteen (or so) person workshop offered at this university at the beginning of the spring semester, and found out I was rejected the old fashioned way - by looking for my name on a bulletin board and not seeing it.
And this, I think, brings home the idea that every writing teacher I’ve ever had has expressed at some point, about relentlessly doing your work until you get lucky.
